Boost your immune system? No thanks

A link to a rather long and rambling post that makes some good points

There is a current craze to “boost” or “support” your immune system/function.  As this article points out, unless you are undergoing a few specific types of cytotoxic chemotherapy then there is no scientifically proven way of “boosting” your immune system. It also goes on to point out that boosting your immune system will probably do more harm than good. Chronic inflammation in your body is not good and may be one of the reasons why people with rheumatoid arthritis have a lower life expectancy (by about three years) than people without rheumatoid arthritis.

The truth of the matter is most potions too boost your immune system don’t work (there fore they only harm they are doing is bleeding money out of your bank account). If any do work, it is likely they will provoke an inflammatory response which, long term is a bad thing.

As someone with an autoimmune disease, I realise what a difficult balancing act your immune system has and I sure don’t want to try and mess with that.  Quite frankly, the last thing I need is a stronger immune system, it would only do more damage!
