Church Pews vs Seats

Reading this post on the Arthritis Care (27th Sept 2009), made me grateful that the seating arrangements in a quaker meeting are much more friendly than a traditional UK church.

I’ve always been aware that churches are really uncomfortable for old people yet most people who go to church are old. Go figure.

All the quaker meetings I’ve attended have had comfortable high back chairs, with arms so you can get up easily. There are usually an assortment of other chairs.  In fact one meeting I went to even had cushioned foot rests and fleecy blankets to put over your knees. Even better, people weren’t afraid to use them.  Any organised religion that has comfy chairs and fleecy blankets is a winner in my book, whether you have arthritis or not!
